Flight home from Summer Vacation

Yesterday, August 10, I left home Missouri to part on the start of year two. I arrived at the airport at 4:30 am to leave at 7 am. We departed on time to Los Angeles and arrived about 30 minutes early. The layover in  Los Angeles was almost 5 hours and 30 minutes. There wasn’t a lot to do in the airport so I just called people and saw what they were doing. The time went by rather slowly!!

We boarded the plane at 1:30 Los Angeles time. At 2:30 we finally took off!! Delta flight was nice the seats had 11 inch screens and lots of movie selections. The food on the flight was also pretty good! I did get an isle seat which was necessary with the length of the flight.  Only problem, I had a person in front of me and the delta seats go FAR BACK compared to the other airlines I have been on. Thus causing me to have someone almost on my lap for a part of the trip. I still had plenty of leg room it was just awkward when eating and watching tv. Flight was 13 hours and when you are on a plane that long, you run out of movies!!

Finally landed!

We arrived in Shanghai on Saturday August 11 at 6:37 PM. Of course that’s when we landed. One thing about Pudong Airport is the flight lands and it always takes at least 30-45 minutes to get off the plane! Finally get off the plane start to head through customs and echannel(fast way through customs) wouldn’t work, so I had to stand in the really long line. Got through customs, got my luggage and the driver was there to pick me up! Great!

45 minutes arrive home roughly 8:30 PM. Get inside and look through my apartment, turn on the air, just want to sleep. Can’t, there is mold covering my sheets, blankets, couch, and some clothes. So have to clean that before sleeping. Finally get to bed around 11:45. All in all a really really long experience but I’m happy to be back in China!
